The Carl Gustav M/45 (officially the Kulsprutepistol m/45) is a Swedish submachine gun developed in 1945 at the close of the Second World War. Chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum round, borrowed design elements from weapons such as the MP40 and Sten, as well as the PPSh-41. It was used extensively by American special forces during the Vietnam War in amphibious operations. An American copy, the Smith & Wesson M76, was designed after the Swedish government banned the sale of the Carl Gustav to American forces.
