The Cinquedea is a type of Italian dagger or short sword with a broad blade about as wide as a man's hand where the blade met the guard (cinquedea- Italian, lit. five fingers). The blade was thick and heavy, often with multiple fullers, and could be up to 28 inches long. The cinquedea was intended primarily for thrusting, and could leave a wide wound with its large blade.
