You don't know what death is!
— Dr. Sam Loomis

Dr. Samuel "Sam" James Loomis was a psychiatrist assigned to Michael Myers after he murdered his sister. Even though Michael spent years unresponsive and seemingly harmless, Dr. Loomis was able to recognize the evil present in the young psychopath. When Michael escaped in 1978, Loomis hunted down his patient, shooting him at least six times while sending him over the balcony. He then proceeded to see that Michael had disappeared. He continued hunting Michael, eventually confronting him in Haddonfield Hospital, where Loomis attempted to blow Myers and himself up. Although he failed to kill Myers,

Loomis had far less injuries, and did not go through 10 years in a coma. When Myers reawakened in 1988, Loomis was the only one aware of his evil patient's survival. He managed to survive a gas station explosion and being through a solid wood door. He knew Michael would return, so a year later he built a series of traps inside the Myers house, eventually trapping Michael beneath a metal net and beating him to a pulp. Michael only escaped because of the Cult of Thorn. After this his history becomes sketchy. It is known that he fought Michael at least once more, preventing him from killing his grand nephew and possibly son. What happened to Dr. Loomis is a mystery for the ages. Some say Michael killed him, others say that he died of a heart attack, others who think he still hunts Michael, and a small but determined group that believes he know controls Michael, using him to do the cursed Doctor's bidding.

Dr. Loomis was an intelligent man, able to pick up on Michael's evil and frequently predicting his actions. He also was able to bend people to his will, using them to help him hunt his crazed patient. Although quite advanced in his years, Loomis has survived being stabbed, an explosion, another explosion, being thrown through a door, sliced open, thrown down stairs, impaled on a broken window, a stroke, being beaten, drugged and possibly another attack by Michael. He was (or is) totally obsessed with finding and killing his patient. Any battle that he partakes in will have to count his resilience, good marksmanship, his ability to send rednecks and cops after his opponent, and the fact that with prep-time and knowledge of his enemy, he can easily beat his opponent.
