Very little is known about the man known as Eliot Spencer. He was born in a rural town, joined the army with after 9/11, eventually became a mercenary. He is now part of a crew of con artists and theives who have made it their mission to right the wrongs that regular law enforcement cannot. It has been implied that he had a very traumatic and abusive childhood, and his skill in hand to hand combat and proficiency with a variety of weapons implies great training, but nothing solid about his life is truly known before he joined the army.

He has been shown knocking out several men in under 3 seconds, killing a man known as "The Butcher of Kiev" with an appetizer, and holding his own against other highly trained soldiers turned mercenaries. His own training is such that he can identify which gun was fired by hearing the sound they make when they go off, what style a person was trained in by their fighting stance, and which sattellite is being taped by the static it makes. He always says that "it's a very distinctive...(stance/gun/weapon/satellite)" when questioned as to how he can know this information. He is currently working with the con artist crew mentioned above and has yet to be beaten in hand to hand combat. He only failed to defeat an opponent alone after fighting another opponent beforehand who had broken some of his ribs and given him a concussion. That is the only time on the show that he ever needed another person's help to fight his opponent.
