That damnyankee rifle you could load on Sunday and shoot all week!
— Confederate description of the Henry

AboutEdit

The Henry Rifle was a lever-action, breech-loading, tubular magazine rifle, one of the first repeating firearms to be introduced in 1860. The weapon saw use on both sides of the American Civil War, though as privately purchased, rather than a government issue weapon. The rifle later saw use in the Indian Wars, both in the hands of settlers and US military, and in the hands of Native Americans, most famously in the Battle of Little Bighorn, where US cavalry under George Armstrong Custer were wiped out by Henry-armed Sioux and Lakota Indians under Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull.
