The M2 4.2 inch mortar was a rifled 4.2 inch mortar mainly used by the United States during the Second World War and the Korean War. It is an upgraded version of the M1 mortar, increasing its range greatly. It first saw action during the Sicilian Campaign. The M2 was gradually replaced by the M30 starting from 1951.
