The Sumerians where the first known civilization, located in Mesopotamia (modern Iraq). The Sumerians where the originators of the wheel, the indoor toilet, the Pyramid (Ziggurat, a type of step pyramid), the chariot (pulled by Domestic Donkeys, wild asses/Onagers, or possibly Donkey/Onager hybrids, Some considerable opinion going towards Donkey/Onager hybrid) and many other feats of human engineering. Sumeria was to the ancient Middle Easterners what the Roman Empire is to the modern Western World, and gave birth to both the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Tower of Babel.
