| Background | Originally, Austin was a resident in the horrid Vault 43- the Vault which contained 20 men, 10 women and one panther. When the Panther was discovered, Austin was one of the only ones to escape into the upper, cramped areas. For the first weeks, he could hear the Panther as it clawed apart and murdered his friends and family. Alone, and driven paranoid that he was constantly hunted by the beast. An emotional and mental wreck, a 14 year old Austin crawled his way through his personal hell and managed to get the Vault open and escape- unaware that the outside world was even less safe. Austin's life in the Wasteland was a hard one, and he found that the people here didn't like it when you lit them on fire or chewed their throats out, and in his isolation he drew further into madness, fully embracing the new world as his mind laid it. He began to hear voices from the strangest of objects- his Flaregun would often hold extended conversations about religion and politics, and he named her Vera, while his clothes became an irritable asshole, causing him to abandon them. One day, he decided to steal a Fire Gecko egg, believing it to make good food- but it hatched because he took too long to prepare the fire. His Survival skill was shit. Enamored with the baby gecko because it too spread fire to the good peoples, Austin took him as his own, and together they set about a many year legacy of fire and showtunes. |

| Background | James grew up in the Wasteland. It was hard, and it wasn't long before he joined a mercenary group. Going on many jobs in a short span has greatly increased James' skills and effenciency, and by age 26, he was one of the best members in his mercenary group. However, soon after, his mercenary group was attacked by an NCR platoon, and all of his closest friends and comrades were taken down. He was the only survivor. Donning the combat armor of the NCR Ranger he killed during the battle, he set off into the Wasteland, still doing mercenary jobs, but solely alone. Constantly mulling over what he could have done differently, if he could have saved some of his friends. |
